The Waiheke Island Writers Residency is open to established and emerging writers, must have published writing, even if self-published. Please send us details of your published writing, with links to previous work.

Terms and Conditions*

The writer has the full use of the one bedroom house.

The house is close to a bus stop, restaurant, dairy and walking distance to the supermarket. The writer must provide their own transport.

Visitors are welcome by day, however due to the retreat nature of the residency, overnight guests are not encouraged.

The writer agrees to keep the house secure at all times and maintain a level of cleanliness, no smoking is permitted inside.

Residents are responsible for their own cooking and laundry.

Arrangements for the payment of the stipend will be made on arrival at the house.

All keys must be returned before departure by 10am.

The writer will be liable for any damages to the property during their stay.

The writer agrees to any publicity regarding being awarded the residency, including a reading at the Waiheke Library.

The judges decision is final and not negotiable.

The writer will be required to acknowledge the Waiheke Writers Residency in any work published, produced or created as a result of the residency.

I have read and will abide by the conditions governing the tenure of the residency, as set out in the terms and conditions and will accept the directions of the WWR in all matters relating to the administration of the residency.

If you are shortlisted please be prepared to give further information about your project if requested.
